When the male Gentoo penguin courts a female during the summers on Falkland Islands, he offers a rock to his intended. This 28” penguin lays out a haphazard nest on dry ground using small rocks, moss, and grass. If she accepts, they officially become tied to one another.
I’ve had several rocks in my life. The weight and frustration often overwhelmed my heart and mind. While courting God, I offered him all my rocks, and graciously, He received them. With years of practice, I’ve learned to offer up my rocks sooner, rather than later. Big or small, He takes them all.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)
Is there a rock weighing down your life? All we must do it nudge the unwanted encumbrance in His direction and He is gracious to lighten our load.
