Has there been a time you functioned on an hour and a half of sleep in a 24 hour period? How bleary eyed would you be if you did this repeatedly each night?
That is exactly what the giraffe does. And even that amount if broken into short durations of 5, 10 or 15 minutes. It survives on power naps, not nearly enough for me. They require less sleep than any other mammal.
I love an 8-hour slumber. Unfortunately as I’ve aged, those nights are rare.
This giraffe fact made me think about Believers and our call to share the gospel. Are we sleeping through our purpose and by the time we awake, will it be too late? I think of times I missed an opportunity to share the gospel and shed tears. We must remember that we were each born for such a time as this. Do not slumber through a chance to share.
