Who Wins the Tug-of-War?

When an American Robin goes for an earthworm burrowing into the soil, the worm’s natural reflex is to eject its tail. So when the Robin pulls, it loses the tug-of-war. The worm remains safe and, over time, regrows its tail.

Pulling up a worm

Have you ever found yourself in a struggle? Did you feel a bad choice yanked you in one direction, and the right choice held on tight? In the tug-of-war between wrong and right, be an earthworm–let go of the sin and replace it with a clean, fresh right choice.

If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. Mark 9:43

  1. very cool- one of your best devos to date! Thanks.

  2. Gail, this is one of the best devotionals yet. It’s short but so on point. We’ve all watched the robin and worm wars. Boy does it apply to my life in the past. Unfortunately, I know wrong choices cost me more than a snippet of flesh. But God is faithful and when we repent He brings beauty out of ashes. What an awesome God He is.
